International Women in the Fire and Emergency Services

International organization supports women career, volunteer, paid-on-call, part-time and seasonal firefighters, officers, EMT's, paramedics, inspectors, dispatchers, and fire service educators in 48 states and 11 countries. Who knew?!! They found STUDIODOG through a Google search, and we instantly clicked. Looking to overhaul their web site, our challenge was to create the "bigger picture" vision of the newly formed organization (read about the merger). We delivered a site that was significantly easier to use and browse, could generate more ad revenue, and incorporate future innovations to better server expanding membership and marketplace. This site evolved quite a bit after its launch to incorporate a registration and payment system.

Christine is a fourth-generation biker chick (her great-grandma rode in 1913) with dirty blond hair and a distinct New York accent. She's been teaching motorcycle riding for years (1986), and her enthusiasm is infectious. She sports an outstanding 20+ year success rate, with 98% of her students passing their NYS DMV Road Test. The extraordinarily high safety and injury prevention stats stand as testament for her "KickStart" training program. The challenge was to provide users the ability to search, compare courses, sign up, create a pictorial archive. To enhance user experience, the site needed a complete design overhaul, simplified navigation, online class registration and payment capabilities. The site is strong in SEO, and has built in techniques for organic search results.

Dutchess County Fairgrounds

Site of the largest six day fair in New York State, the Dutchess County Fair is located on a 170 acre facility in Rhinebeck, NY. The fairgrounds hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year, including Crafts Shows, Classic Car Shows, Antique Shows, a Sheep and Wool Festival, Wine and Food Festival, and many livestock shows. Users want up-to-the-minute times dates prices and information for scheduled events, activities, exhibits, entry guides, news, photos, and more. Phase 1 addressed simplifying navigation, content organization, and enhanced user experience. Phase 2 addresses site design overhaul, online payment capabilities, and more.

A haven for children's books and fun! A whimsical & inviting children's bookstore on Martha's Vineyard invite you to bring the kids to meet Riley the cocker spaniel and discover the joy of reading. Riley's Reads has proven to be an invaluable resource with great gift suggestions and children's book recommendations. They remain a model of personalized service to kids and parents alike. Client wanted to provide her loyal following of out of state customers with year-round online shopping. Design challenges were to reflect the bookstore's charm, variety, and personality; inspire feelings of a neighborhood children's bookstore; and integrate site content and features into a shopping cart payment solution. Client updates inventory regularly through an online Admin interface.

Marie's Cozy Corner in Rhinebeck is a country home decor gift shop with home decor items and gifts. Walking into the shop you feel like you are in an old fashioned country store with the latest trendy and nostalgic items. On weekends you may sample Angelic Gourmet's chocolate covered pretzels from Naples, NY, Robert Rothchild's salsas and cheese dips from Ohio, or Annie's homemade chocolates from Rhinebeck. Our challenge was to create an updated trendy old-fashioned country store to spark the experience. Site utilizes a Flash animation header to provide added personality.

The Shipping Place in Hyde Park, NY boxes, packs, and ships just about anything just about anywhere. Big or small they ship it all. They also sell your stuff on eBay. It's a convenient way for you to make some money selling the stuff you no longer want or need. They do everything for you. We gave the existing site a complete design overhaul. Products and service photos and descriptions were added to improve user experience and search rankings. Site utilizes a Flash animation header to provide added personality.

Tiokasin Ghosthorse is host and producer of First Voices Indigenous Radio. This one hour program connects the voices of the Indigenous Peoples and their struggles with those of other Indigenous Peoples around the world, remembering that standing upon Mother Earth is a great responsibility. Tiokasin had pushed his Wordpress web site to it's organization limits. He contacted us requesting a real web site that could add structure to and organize the growing body of content. This design was inspired by Tiokasins' vision of the People's first voices speaking to Creator. The site was completely re-branded; navigation structured, content reorganized. Client maintains weekly time-sensitive updates.

From concept development to publishing, this site was a favorite. Love what and why and how this woman lives life. After graduating with a master's degree in Weed Science at Colorado State University, Lani Malmberg bought 100 cashmere goats and started selling services to landowners with weed-infested properties. Goats are used in a controlled grazing environment to gradually and naturally remove weeds and return land to a healthy, natural ecosystem by eliminating the use of harmful herbicides and pesticides. She now travels comfortably with a herd of 2,000. She lost control of her original domain when it expired. She hired us for a total redesign, to search and restore lost data, gather and collect new data. A few photos were provided. After a couple of conversations, we started in.

Geothermal technology offers higher efficiency, lower utility bills, improved comfort, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions, compared to conventional heating and cooling systems. Client provided logo concept and resource links for content research. Design balances high tech, low tech, Green friendly, and dramatic shots in nature. Qunituray Raipan - Indigenous Healer, Ceremonialist

Quinturay Ray pan is a ceremonialist, ritual dancer, healer and teacher of the Indigenous Mapuche Peoples of Chile. I met Quinturay at a workshop in the United States, and traveled to Chile to deepen the experience. Design challenge was she did not speak English, and only two of us spoke Spanish. It was a memorable experience. We illuminated her efforts through creative interviews, articles, and direct conversation. Collectively, we re-created her story after a fair amount of research, patience, and laughter. Site was a collective gift of many giving respect and recognition to Quinturay and her life's work. Site provides a Spanish language version.

James and I were Assistant Directors together in BNI. His creative staff provided site design and concept. We brought their vision to life via Flash and programming. We built an online Admin interface which allowed client backbend access to swap out audio, video, and image files in the portfolio section, as needed.

In the process of launching her store in the upstate NY area, EB needed a web site to build awareness and interest in a crowded market. Design brings her brand to life, matching tastes and needs of discerning shoppers. Challenge was to incorporate the color scheme of her logo and background texture together to create a neighborhood city shopping feel. Challenge was to present photos in a more logical manner. Design emphasis was visual simplicity. An uncluttered look allowed the main focus to be on product shots.

North Carolina Connections offers computer network setup, support, repair & troubleshooting services in Kure Beach, NC area. New to the area, our challenge was to create a web identity that carried over to print. We designed the logo and business card. Design suggestions included a North Carolina beach techie feel, a photo relating to Kitty Hawk, a puzzle piece, and the use of red as the dominate site color. Sometimes the most diverse requirements can become the most interesting. We also created custom icons which represent different aspects of the business.

le Petit Chateau Inn is a renovated farmhouse circa 1900 with all amenities. Culinary Institute of America chefs prepare breakfast and baked goods. Every room named after a French wine region. Beautiful private baths, working fireplaces. Two sitting rooms. Property has an impressive pond where mallard ducks, geese and herons live. This beautiful tranquil estate offers a unique experience combined with a refreshing personal service. Design challenge: using a great background image of the pond adds visual interest, color and contrast, without distracting from the content. Having the image bleed gives a sense of dimension, communicates a sense of nature, healthiness and quality. Client maintains updates so the site may no longer validate.
